<p>Apparatus and method for the continuous photolytic treatment of effluents is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a flow through container having means restricting the flow of effluent there through so as to increase its flow path. Photoirradiation means deliver incident light through a transparent wall in the container. Also disclosed are methods and apparatus for the treatment of solid organic waste materials involving preliminary treatment of the waste material and subsequent treatment of the effluent by photolysis and biodegradation.</p> |
