PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving device for a transmission belt which suppresses belt slip sound likely to occur when, in particular, angular acceleration of a crank pulley is large, and also suppresses belt slip sound generated at the instant when a switch of A/C is turned on and excellent in durability. SOLUTION: This driving device for the transmission belt is constituted in such a way that a V ribbed belt 1 constituted by a bonded rubber layer 3 in which a core wire 2 is buried and a compression rubber layer 4 positioned on an inner side of the bonded rubber layer 3 and forming one or more rib parts 6 and a pulley 10 having a rib channel part 11 engaged with the rib part 6 of the belt are combined. At least the compression rubber layer of the transmission belt is made of alkylated chlorosulfonated polyethylene. A rib angleαof the belt and a rib channel angleβof the crank pulley satisfies the expression, 0<|α-β|≤3, to concentrate locally large stress into a bottom part of the rib part when the rib part 6 of the belt is engaged with the rib channel part 11 of the pulley.
