PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the volume of a liquid drop per dot and to shoot the liquid drop with high accuracy even when the distance from a head nozzle to a writing basic body is short. SOLUTION: In response to a single dot ejection instruction, first and second liquid ejection pulses are applied continuously to the pressure generating element of a liquid ejection head. Assuming N is an odd number of 3 or above, Tr is the reciprocal of hydraulic resonance frequency in the liquid ejection head, T1 is the pulse width of the first ejection pulse, T2 is the pulse width of the second ejection pulse, and K12 is the pause between the first and second ejection pulses, each ejection pulse is applied to satisfy the following relations; T1=(0.9-1.1)×N×Tr/2, T2=(0.9-1.1)×Tr/2, and K12=(0.9-1.1)×(3Tr/4-T2/2).
