<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document size detecting device capable of preventing erroneous determination of a document size. <P>SOLUTION: A light reflecting type sensor 3 is provided with a light projecting part 13 projecting light toward detection positions A1 and A2 scattered within a width area R of a document, a light receiving part 18 having a plurality of light receiving elements 17a and 17b respectively receiving reflected light from each detecting position A1 and A2, and an output part 20 outputting an existence of the document in response to a light receiving state of each light receiving element 17a and 17b to a determining part 11. The output part 20 recognizes a signal from a light receiving element having received reflected light as one and a signal from a light receiving element not having received reflected light as zero, and when a logical product of the signals from the light receiving elements 17a and 17b is one, it outputs the fact that there is a document to the determining part 11. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
