PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable easier and correct reproduction of multi-valued data even in the case of such a recording density as high as such a good eye hight cannot be obtained. SOLUTION: One symbol includes (n-1) bit data in n×m-1 (n and m being integers in n≥2, m≥2) arranged in one column, such m symbols are generated, such m symbols are arranged in m columns to arrange ä(n-1)×m} bit data in an upper part of a matrix of n rows and m columns, (m-1) bit data as a remainder of the n×m-1 bit data are converted to m bit data and arranged in a lower part of the matrix of n rows and m columns.
