VOICE MULTIPLEXING APPARATUS AND METHOD OF ATM NETWORK SUPPORTING VOICE AND DATA SERVICE

PURPOSE: A voice multiplexing apparatus and a method of an ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) network supporting voice and data service are provided to effectively use bands of links connected to an IMA(Inverse Mux Assembly) by adjusting a rate between an AAL2(ATM Adaptation Layer 2) multiplexer and an IMA. CONSTITUTION: An output rate controller checks whether an ATM cell transmission request is received from an AAL2 multiplexer(1301). If the ATM cell transmission request is received, the output rate controller checks whether a counter coin is smaller than a given coin(1303). If the counter coin is smaller than the given coin, the output rate controller requests ATM cell transmission from the AAL2 multiplexer(1305). The output rate controller checks whether an ATM cell is received from the AAL2 multiplexer(1307). When the ATM cell is received from the AAL2 multiplexer, the output rate controller transfers the received ATM cell to an IMA equipment(1309). The output rate controller adds one counter coin(1311).
