The vertical press (1) has a press housing (2) with a vertical screw (3), a pressure bearing mounting (4) and a drive (5). The vertical screw system is connected to a horizontal vacuum screw press (8). According to requirements, the vertical press unit is fitted with a press cylinder (6), wear shoulders (7a-7c), and maintenance flaps. The drive monitors for the vertical and horizontal screw system drives (5,12) pass their measured values to a programmable control unit (13) to set or match the rotary speeds and/or torques.
