PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separation and recycling unit capable of not only maintaining an appropriate state to separate impurities and clean objects to be cleaned but also promoting the separation of impurities dissolved in a solvent to obtain a continuous, stable cleaning effect. SOLUTION: The water content of a solvent D is separated in a water- separation tank 8 which constitutes a cleaning unit 1 and the solvent D is held in a recycling solvent-holding tank 10. The solvent D supplied from the recycling solvent-holding tank 10 is temporarily held in a recycling solvent-holding tank 19 which constitutes an impurity-separating device 14. A solvent C supplied from a cleaning tank 5 is temporarily held in a solvent-holding tank 29 and the solvents C and D to be supplied to a stain oil-separator 34, (etc.), are held in independent tanks. In order to be mixed, the solvents C and D are supplied to the stain-separator 34, a liquid-holding tank 35 and a stain oil-residue separator 37, (etc.), and a solvent mixture, C+D, appropriate for the treatment of objects A to be cleaned, is returned for supply to a preliminary cleaning tank 6.
