PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a toner carrying roller and the toner carrying roller which has favorable surface characteristics, which is free from dropping of a toner or image failure when the roller is mounted in a machine, particularly in the initial printing stage or subjected to repeated printing in a large amount, and which can form high-quality images, and to provide an image forming apparatus which uses the roller. SOLUTION: The toner carrying roller 10 comprises an axis 2 and a polyurethane foamed layer 3 applied by integrated molding on the periphery of the axis 2. The method includes a process of injecting the source material component into a cylindrical die 1 while the axis 2 is inserted along the center line of the cylindrical die 1, foaming and hardening to integrate the polyurethane foamed layer 3 with the axis 2. After the polyurethane foamed layer 3 integrated with the axis 2 is released from the die, the polyurethane foamed layer 3 is subjected to both of the crashing treatment on the outer surface of the layer and to the secondary curing of the layer. |
