The invention relates to a base for fixing friezes or any other type of ceramic panel (2). The invention is characterised in that it is very easy for persons without specific training to renovate the aforementioned panels. The inventive base (3) comprises a strip of plastic which can be easily cut to the measurements of the section to be installed. Self-adhesive tape (5) is incorporated in said base which facilitates the instantaneous fixing of the ceramic panels (2), thereby reducing the installation time and cost considerably and dispensing with the need for sand and cement mortar or paste. Said fixing base (3), which is equal in width to the frieze, is affixed to the wall (1) using the same mortar as is used with normal tiles.
