PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method for an image forming apparatus, which prevents occurrence of fog and sticking of carrier to prevent occurrence of defective image. SOLUTION: After the surface potential of a photoreceptor 1 is controlled so as to be constant, the surface potential is measured at regular intervals by a potential sensor 3. When a difference between the measured potential and a potential detected previously is larger than or equal to a predetermined value, the surface potential is judged to be abnormal and the image forming device is stopped. It is preferable that a potential at which fog occurs or a potential at which carrier sticks be used as the predetermined value. |
