PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transfer highly dense and highly accurate magnetic patterns regarding a master body for magnetic pattern transfer, a magnetic pattern transfer method and a method for manufacturing a magnetic recording medium. SOLUTION: In a constitution where a master body 1 for magnetic pattern transfer receives an external magnetic field to excite the magnetic film part 3 thereof, and the magnetic pattern is transferred to a magnetic recording medium 10 which is a slave medium arranged close to the magnetic film part 3, the magnetic film part 3 of the master body 1 is made of an FeCo alloy whose Co amount is in the range of 25 to 50 at.%.
