A web of hook like mechanical fastening components (24) is fitted to a base layer (26) to cooperate with loop like second mechanical components. The base (26) has extending sections (38,40) of carrier web material in turn attached to webs (74,76) of panel material at the outer edges. The composite web is divided along serpentine non intersecting dividing lines (62,62a) across and along the hook layer (26). The serpentine lines have alternating hill and valley regions across said layer (26) and may or may not extend into the panel regions (74,76). The serpentine strip is removed from the composite web. Preferably the serpentine cuts preferably do not extend into the panel regions. The composite web may be segmented into multiple fastener components. The composite web may be preferably constructed as part of a continuous process and details of said web manufacture are disclosed. |
