PURPOSE: A device for downloading a program of a main control unit board and a method thereof are provided to download a program to an ISP-PLD(In System Programmable PLD) device through a communication cable connected to a LAN(Local Area Network) port and a serial port in an MCU(Main Controller Unit) design board. CONSTITUTION: A CPU of a computer downloads a PLD(Programmable Logic Device) program. The PLD program is transmitted to a LAN port or an RS232 port of an MCU design board through a LAN port or an RS232 port. The CPU of the MCU design board receives and temporarily stores the PLD program in a RAM(S510-S520). The CPU of the MCU design board sets a download path with respect to a PLD selection circuit through a CPU interface circuit of a download unit(S530). The CPU downloads the PLD program to a corresponding ISP-PLD through a PLD interface circuit(S540). A download execution state is continued until the PLD program is completely downloaded to the corresponding ISP-PLD(S550). The CPU reads an actually downloaded program through a PLD interface circuit, a PLD selection circuit, and a CPU interface circuit from the ISP-PLD. The CPU compares the read PLD download program with the PLD program temporarily stored in the RAM, and judges whether an error is generated(S560). If an error is generated, the error is informed to a user(S580). If the state is normal, the corresponding ISP-PLD device is initialized(S570).
