PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer capable of simply and easily adjusting a position of a head. SOLUTION: Though the ink jet printer 1 prints at least a printing range in a main scanning direction crossing at right angles a conveying direction of recording paper 7 by moving a carriage 2 on which a plurality of heads 4a to 4d are mounted to discharge ink onto the recording paper 7 from the heads 4a to 4d, a plurality of the heads 4a to 4d are collectively held with a head holder 3 and the head holder 3 is, in a position-adjustable manner, mounted on the carriage 2. Then, manpower for adjusting in assembly is reduced and a maintenance property can be improved. Besides, a request precision of parts of the carriage 2 are softened, positional adjustment of the heads 4a to 4d can be easily, inexpensively and high precisely carried out and a printing quality can be improved.
