The invention relates to a toner and to a method for producing a plastic toner, especially for electrophotography. The inventive toner is characteriz ed in that as the base material for the toner a powder for powder coating is us ed that has a grain size distribution of from 1 to 20 .mu.m, especially 5 to 15 .mu.m, and that is provided with additional charge control agents and additives on the surface. According to the inventive method, already convect ed powders for powder coating are used as the base material. In a mixing step, said powders are mixed with charge control agents (CCA) for improving surfac e charge and optionally in a further mixing step with additives for improving the flow properties, the adhesive power and the agglomeration propensity.</S DOAB>
