The substrate with at least one smoothed surface region is provided by a polymer layer whose surface facing away from the substrate is smooth. An Independent claim is also included for a method of producing such a substrate. It involves application of a polymerizable liquid to a rough substrate surface and subsequent polymerization of this liquid.
