PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing color synthesis optical system which can accurately and quickly position and fix a color synthesis prism to a fixing plate. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing color synthesis optical system is provided with an optical axis position adjusting process S1 for adjusting light flux radiated from a light source to a reference optical axis so as to make the light flux perpendicularly enter into a light entering end face of the prism before the color composing optical system is manufactured, a plane position adjusting process S5 for detecting a plane position of the prism and previously adjusting a quite wrong plane position of the prism after obtaining the optimal reference optical axis by the optical axis position adjusting process S1, and a tilting direction position adjusting process S6 for separating the light flux radiated from the light source into a plurality of color lights R, G, B, etc., in a light guiding part in a manufacturing part, making them enter into the light entering end face of the prism, and adjusting a position of the prism relative to the fixing plate as a detecting apparatus detects the light flux composed by the prism.
