METHOD FOR RESTORING MAINTENANCE INFORMATION USING BACKUP

PURPOSE: A method for restoring maintenance information using backup is provided to read maintenance information rerecorded on a track except a maintenance area when defects are generated in the maintenance area. CONSTITUTION: A microprocessor reads maintenance information recorded on a maintenance area(40). The microprocessor examines whether a maintenance information read error is generated(42). If so, the microprocessor increases tracks as many as required(44). The microprocessor reads duplicated information from a track where the maintenance information is rerecorded(46). The microprocessor examines whether a duplicated information read error is generated(48). If so, the microprocessor examines whether it is a final track where maintenance information is rerecorded(50). If so, the microprocessor reports the error to a host computer(52).
