PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a highly fine moving image by reducing the driving frequency of a horizontal transfer section in a digital still camera with a built-in imaging device of high picture elements. SOLUTION: Electric charges on 4-picture elements adjacent horizontally and vertically are mixed and outputted, and a horizontal combination of mixing of picture elements is changed for each line such that a signal after the mixing the 4-picture elements satisfies a relationship of offset sampling for each line. Further, a color filter with RGB primary color stripe arrangement for example is provided such that three independent color signals are obtained in any of a still image (reading of all picture elements) mode and a moving image (reading of mixing of 4-picture elements) mode.
