[Also in Division B1] ] A rotary valve 5 for use in apparatus for measuring the vapour-liquid ratio of fluid samples (see Division B1) comprises a tapered stainless steel plug which has milled into it hemispherical sample cup 17, a drain cup 18, a drain line from the bottom of cup 18 through the plug and by-pass slot 19, the plug being inserted into a polytetrafluoroethylene sleeve with a matching taper. In the position shown, sample cup 17 communicates with tube 13 and a sample stream flows through inlet 4, by-pass slot 19 and outlet 6. When`the plug is rotated by a motor (12) to the position of Fig. 2 (not shown), the sample stream from 4 flows through the sample cup 17 and out at 6, and tube 13 is drained via drain cup 18 and outlet 8. A thermowell 20 enables the temperature of the valve to be kept at a predetermined level. |
