PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power generating device and a sound absorbing method for the power generating device which make it possible to easily absorb even a sound of small vibration frequency. SOLUTION: The power generating device D is equipped with an exterior body 1. The exterior body 1 is internally equipped with an engine 3 as an internal combustion engine, a radiator 4 which cools the engine 3, a silencer device 5, and a resonance sound absorption part 6 which absorbs a sound of specific vibration frequency reverberating in the exterior body 1 through a resonance phenomenon. The resonance sound absorption part 6 is formed by providing a resonance sound absorption member 60 at a corner part in the exterior body 1.
