PURPOSE: To improve the maintainability of an intermediate transfer cleaner to improve cost effectiveness by prolonging its service life and to improve image quality by sufficiently cleaning a intermediate transfer medium by holding the adhesiveness of the intermediate transfer cleaner for adhering to and removing fouling remaining on the intermediate transfer medium after secondarily transferring a toner image primarily transferred by the intermediate transfer medium using a liquid developer on a paper sheet. CONSTITUTION: The paper sheet P is transported to a intermediate transfer roll 27 by using a pair of transport rollers 37 consisting of a paper sheet cleaning roller 34 having adhesiveness and an opposite roller 36, and dust adhering to the contact surface side between the intermediate transfer roll 27 and the paper sheet P is made to adhere to a paper sheet cleaning roller 34 side and removed before secondary transfer. Thereby, adhesion of dust from the paper sheet P to the intermediate transfer roll 27 is eliminated during the secondary transfer, the adhesion of the dust to an intermediate cleaning roller 30 is eliminated, and decrease of adhesion strength of the intermediate cleaning roller 30 resulting from the adhesion of the dust is prevented. |
