PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information display device which can properly transmit display data to a succeeding-stage display unit regardless of a fault of a display unit. SOLUTION: Light sources are unitized in a certain unit to form display units, and a plurality of display units are connected to form a display face, and display data is successively shifted by serial transfer and is stored in a shift register, and light sources of display units are lit or extinguished on the basis of display data stored in the shift register to display characters or pictures on the display face. In this information display device, a backup module transmits display data for backup to one display unit in the case of a fault of another display unit. Thus, the reliability of display on the display face is improved.
