The analysis sensor uses an optical fibre (10) supplied with laser light (14), e.g. via a pulsed laser light source and a detector (20) for determining the intensity spectrum of the laser light passing through the optical fibre. The latter can be formed from a chemically inert material which is resistant to high temperatures of above 1000 degrees C. An Independent claim for a spectroscopic analysis method is also included.
