PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-combusting all-weather type carbonization device which is used for self-combusting wood chips, or the like, and is not limited by weather, even when used outdoors, and does not affect a worker, or the like, even when used indoor, or the like. SOLUTION: A flexible pipe 10 is attached to the center of an oven lid 8 which can cover and seal the upper side of a carbonization oven 2, in a state capable of being lifted with a manual winch 11. A smoke-gathering pipe 21 mounted in the carbonization oven 2, and a fire door 23 are detachably disposed. The carbonization method comprises charging a raw material into the carbonization oven 2, closing the oven lid 8, igniting the raw material from the fire door 23, guiding the smoke to a pyroligneous acid liquid recovery vessel 4 through the smoke-gathering pipe 21 and an exhaust gas pipe 3, cleaning the gas with two step filter layers 27, 31, and then exhausting the cleaned gas from a chimney 5.
