PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a material whose thermal expansion coefficient is almost zero even in a wide temperature range in zero thermal expansion materials and applied parts obtained by using the materials, and to provide various materials and parts obtained by using the above material, and having satisfactory properties. SOLUTION: A compound oxide at least partially containing a compound expressed by RQ2 O8 (wherein, R is a tetravalent element exemplified by Zr, Hf or a mixed series thereof; and Q is a hexavalent element selected from W and Mo) is used as a negative thermal expansion material, and the one at least partially containing a compound represented by MQX4 (wherein, M is a bivalent metallic element exemplified by Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Ra or a mixed series thereof; Q is a hexavalent metallic element selected from W and Mo; and X is an element selected from O and S) is used as a positive thermal expansion material, and these are mixed and synthesized so as to control their weight ratio to 1:1, so that the material whose thermal expansion coefficient is almost zero in a wide temperature range can be obtained. |
