PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fully reduce the occurrence of the sliding sound and the brush beating sound of a brush device using a high brush in the direction of a rotary shaft. SOLUTION: The brush device 10 is equipped with a brush 20, whose face 22 to slide on a commutator 60 is tapered and where a triangular groove 24a which gradually becomes narrower inward in the direction of a motor shaft 70, is made at a side face 24 in the direction of the motor shaft 70 which is the side face projecting most toward the commutator 60; a brush holder 40 where a projection 44a to engage with the groove 24a is made at a wall 44 opposed to the groove 24a; and a spring 30 which energizes the brush 20 toward the side face 24.
