PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the user of a food information obtaining system to obtain desired information on foods without making complicated operation. SOLUTION: The food information obtaining system is provided with an information household electric appliance 1 having a bar code reader 11, a food information server 3 having information on the foods corresponding to the information expressed by bar codes 7 one to one, and a bar code-URL conversion server 2 having the information expressed by the bar codes 7 and uniform resource locators (URL) indicating the storing destinations of the information on foods corresponding to the information expressed by the bar codes 7 stored in the server 3 one to one in paired states. The system is also provided with a communication network 5 connecting the appliance 1 and servers 3 and 2 to each other. The server 2 acquires the URL paired to the information expressed by bar codes 7 stuck to or printed on a food transmitted from the electric appliance 1 by retrieving the URL and makes the appliance 1 to be connected to the server 3 to acquire the information on the food corresponding to the information expressed by the bar codes 7 by transmitting the URL to the appliance 1.
