PURPOSE: A method for duplexing an overhead channel set in a mobile communication system is provided to detect the state of a channel card in which the overhead channel set exists through a hardware interrupt method, and to operate a task for the overhead channel set if the state of the channel card is abnormal due to the fault of an active overhead channel set, so as to switch a reserved overhead channel set to be operated as the active overhead channel set. CONSTITUTION: A base station initializes an active overhead channel set and a reserved overhead channel set(S1,S2). If each overhead channel set is operated normally, a task for the overhead channel sets is generated(S3). If an interrupt notifying the fault of the active overhead channel set is generated from a channel card, the task is operated(S4,S5). According to the operation of the task, the reserved overhead channel set is switched to be operated as the active overhead channel set, and overhead information is continuously transmitted to a mobile terminal(S6). The active overhead channel set is changed to the reserved overhead channel set to change the configuration thereof, information on the changed overhead channel set configuration is upgraded, and information on the change is reported to an administration station(S7,S8).
