PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic actuator which can reduce heat generation in electromagnets and improve the precision of positioning an object of driving. SOLUTION: This electromagnetic actuator has a movable member 20 which is a driving object, two electromagnets 21x and 22x facing each other with a transfer space for the movable member between them, and a current supply means 24 which supplies an exciting current to at least one of the electromagnets 21x and 22x according to a drive force necessary for transferring the movable member to a target position. The current supply means 24 supplies the excitation current to one of the two electromagnets if the necessary drive force is larger than a prescribed value and supplies the excitation currents to both two electromagnets if the necessary driving force is smaller than the prescribed value.
