PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a demodulator flexibly adaptive to the change of communication specifications, especially, the change of a modulation system in order to reduce developing costs and to shorten a construction work and a receiver, on-vehicle equipment, and road side machine using this demodulator. SOLUTION: A modulated wave 104 is converted into a digital signal 108 by an analog/digital converter 17, and received data 105 are calculated by digital demodulation arithmetic operation by a demodulation arithmetic circuit 18. Then, the demodulation arithmetic function of the demodulation arithmetic circuit 18 can be set like software based on a program 20.
