PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor laser element for obtaining proper FFP. SOLUTION: The semiconductor laser element has a stripe-like waveguide region in a lamination structure body where a first conductivity-type semiconductor layer, an active layer, and a second conductivity-type semiconductor layer that differs from the first one are laminated, in the order. The lamination structure body has an end face vertical to the waveguide direction of light in the waveguide region, and a side, in parallel with the waveguide direction of the light in the waveguide region. A light transmission layer is provided near the resonator surface of the end face and/or on the side.
