Cosmetic or dermatological composition comprises: (1) a derivative of dibenzoylmethane as a UV filter; and (2) 1,1,1-tri-(2-methyl-4-hydroxy-5-tert-butylphenyl)-butane. Independent claims are included for: (1) a process to improve the stability of dibenzoylmethane derivatives to UV radiation uses 1,1,1-tri-(2-methyl-4-hydroxy-5-tert-butylphenyl)-butane; (2) use of 1,1,1-tri-(2-methyl-4-hydroxy-5-tert-butylphenyl)-butane in a cosmetic or dermatological preparation to UV stabilize dibenzoylmethane derivatives; (3) process to improve the stability of 1,3,5-triazine derivatives, in the presence of dibenzoylmethane derivatives, to UV radiation uses 1,1,1-tri-(2-methyl-4-hydroxy-5-tert-butylphenyl)-butane; and (4) use of 1,1,1-tri-(2-methyl-4-hydroxy-5-tert-butylphenyl)-butane in a cosmetic or dermatological preparation to UV stabilize 1,3,5-triazine derivatives in the presence of dibenzoylmethane derivatives.
