In a method for coating loose particles by spraying a bonding substance on to measured quantities of particles falling in the form of a veil, a supplementary acceleration in a downward direction is imparted to the particles before they reach the spraying zone. As shown, particles 1 are fed by a vibrating trough 2, strike <PICT:0907697/III/1> a baffle 3 and fall on a distributing cone 5 arranged in a funnel 4. The particles are then accelerated downwardly and given a rotary motion by blades 13 which are mounted on a shaft rotated by a motor 9, and then enter a chamber 14 in which they are sprayed, while falling, with bonding substance by spray-guns 21. They then fall into a double-trough transporter having two shafts 15 (not shown) and 16 driven in opposite directions, and carrying impeller arms 17 (not shown) and 18 which stir the particles and convey them towards a discharge opening 26. Air and bonding material mist are drawn off through an outlet 25, the air being caused to pass through the upper part of the moving particles by a baffle 24.
