PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type liquid crystal display device dealing with the request of reduction of thickness without reducing the light quantity on the observer side and provided with a frontlight. SOLUTION: The reflection type liquid crystal display device having polarizing plates disposed on both sides of a liquid crystal display element and a reflection plate provided on the side opposite to a viewing side is characterized in that a frontlight light guide device for irradiating a liquid crystal surface is provided between the polarizing plate on the viewing side and the liquid crystal display element.
