摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the display screen of a dot matrix type fluorescent character display tube of high definition. SOLUTION: In a fluorescent character display tube 10 provided with a cathode as an electron emitting source, a plurality of anodes 11 which are arranged in a matrix form to oppose this cathode and form display pixels with phosphor adhering to each of them, and a plurality of top-view rectangular grids which are arranged between the cathode and the anodes with a predetermined distance apart from the anodes and are arranged also in parallel with each other in the direction of rows of the anodes, the anodes 11 are connected with common anode wiring 12 at every 7th anode in each row; the anodes 11 in each row are divided into two groups each of which consists of a group of three consecutive anodes 11 and they are alternatively supplied with a lighting signal; also the grids 13 are arranged so that the border of two adjacent grids 13 is positioned over the center anode of the three pieces of the anodes 11 forming each anode group; and a grid voltage is applied to two adjacent grids 13 while shifting the grid 13 one by one to which the grid voltage is to be applied at a predetermined cycle.
