CLAMPING RECEPTACLE

A receptacle for confining circuit cards (106) to different locations within a housing (100) and that has a frame (104) is provided. The frame (104) has an array of slots (102), each containing one of the circuit cards (106). In one embodiment, the receptacle has a cam (810) that is selectively engageable with the frame for clamping the circuit cards (408b) within the frame (406). In another embodiment, a shaft (817) is rotatably attached to the receptacle (800). The shaft (817) has a head (828) at one end and a nut (830) opposite the head (828). A resilient element (1202) is disposed on the shaft (1222) between the head (1226) and the nut (1212). The resilient element (1202) is axially compressible between the head and nut (1212) to bulge generally perpendicularly to the axial direction into engagement with the frame (406) for clamping the circuit cards (408b) within the frame (406).
