PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide such an optical member that its production cost can be reduced by forming a new antireflection layer in a wet method on the surface of a base material, to provide an electro-optical device using the above optical member, to provide an electronic appliance using the above electro-optical device, and to provide a method for manufacturing the optical member. SOLUTION: In the process of manufacturing an antireflection film 16, 17, 18, 19 as the optical member, a liquid in which ultrafine particles of metals or metal compounds having <=10 nm average particle size is dispersed is applied on the top surface 141 of the film base material 14, and the ultrafine particles are fixed to the film base material 14 to form the antireflection layer consisting of a layer 15 of the ultrafine particles. |
