PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a flat display device capable of easily manufacturing the flat display device at high precision. SOLUTION: A spacer 10 which keeps interval between a face plate 2 and a rear plate 1 is applied with magnetism. The spacer 10 is attracted by a magnet 15 for alignment and fitting to either the face plate in which a phosphor layer is formed or the rear plate 1 in which electron releasing elements for exciting the phosphor layer are provided, and then aligned with the other plate for jointing.
