PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove visual striations generated in a lamp. SOLUTION: A stabilizer (24), in operative connection with a system power supply, is an inversion type stabilizer designed to generate an unsymmetrical alternating current lamp input current on a lamp input line (32). Further, a gas discharge lamp (34) is in operative connection to the lamp input line, and receives the unsymmetrical alternating current. The inversion circuit of the stabilizer (24) includes complementary switches 40, 42 to have unequal on times, thereby producing an unsymmetric lamp input current. A direct current blocking capacitor (46) is installed to block a direct current from the lamp input line. The unsymmetric alternating lamp input current eliminates visual striations generated in the lamp (34) in case this current is not supplied. |
