PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a personal computer the main body of which is connected with a control circuit of a docking station by a simple connection processing routine. SOLUTION: A BIOS 22 controls various input/output devices and simultaneously outputs device configuration information to indicate what devices are connected at present to a device manager 21. The device manager 21 detects connection/disconnection of the docking station based on the device configuration information and informs a virtual driver 23 of the detected connection/ disconnection. The virtual driver 23 gives the informed information to an audio driver 24. The audio driver 24 detects the connection/disconnection of the docking station based on information from the virtual driver 23 and controls an audio controller 7 (hardware) based the detection.
