MICROWAVE OVEN AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE SAME

PURPOSE: A microwave oven and a method for controlling the same is provided to relieve anxiety of users about the leakage of high frequency, while preventing waste of power. CONSTITUTION: A microwave oven comprise a main body; a magnetron generating a high frequency; a human body sensor(13) for sensing the existence of human body within a predetermined area spaced apart from the main body; a magnetron driving unit(50) for driving the magnetron; a micro processor(40) serving as a controller for controlling operation of the magnetron driving unit so as to stop or re-start an operation of the magnetron in accordance with the existence or absence of human body within the sensing area; and a lamp driving unit(60) for turning on/off the lamp in the microwave oven in accordance with the control signal output from the micro processor.
