<p>A composition for use in an ink formulation comprises (a) an aqueous phase having a pH of at least 7; (b) a (meth)acrylate polymer which is a homopolymer or copolymer comprising at least 80 wt% of units derived from at least one (C6-22 alkyl) (meth)acrylate (and, in the event that the acrylate polymer contains acid groups, which acrylate polymer, in the free acid form, has an acid number less than 75); (c) a stabilizing polymer comprising units derived from at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer having a group selected from a carboxylic acid, an acid anhydride thereof and a salt thereof, and which, in a free acid form thereof, has an acid number of at least 75, whereby the polymer is soluble in the aqueous phase at the pH of at least 7; and (d) as a crosslinking agent, a water solubilizing polyvalent cation derived from a metal salt, wherein the metal is at least one of zinc and zirconium.</p> |
