PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a positive electrode active material for a secondary battery, having high energy density and high charging/ discharging cycle performance. SOLUTION: A precursor of the positive electrode active material is obtained by heat-treating an aqueous solution which contains an organic chelate compound and a high-boiling point organic solvent, in which compounds of all elements constituting the positive active material among transition metal element groups comprising Mn, Ni, and Co are dissolved. The precursor and a lithium compound are mixed, and the mixture is heat-treated in the temperature range of 950 deg.C or higher, to obtain the positive electrode active material comprising a composite oxide, having α-NaFeO2 type crystal structure and is represented by the chemical formula LiXMna Nib Coc O2 (where 0.30<=a<=0.5, 0.36<=b<=0.55, 0<=c<=0.34, 0.95<=x/(a+b+c)<=1.05). |
