An apparatus capable of displaying a luminescent icon includes a light source and a light pipe capable of allowing light to propagate therethrough. The light pipe has a first end capable of receiving light from the light and a second end capable of emitting the light from the light source, wherein the second end has a shape corresponding to the luminescent icon. A method capable of displaying a luminescent icon includes emitting a light from a light source and forming the light into a shape corresponding to the luminescent icon.
