A large amount of ink (14) is held in a main reservoir (12) which forms the middle and top part of the pen (10). A wick (16) extends through a central hole in a fluid-tight bulkhead (20) near the bottom end of the pen. Its outer end is cut at an angle to form a writing implement (22). The end of the pen is tapered and there is a small air channel (24) leading past the wick into the interior of the pen. The wick is surrounded by a porous body forming a secondary reservoir (18). The wick and secondary reservoir may be made of the same fibrous material. There are more capillary spaces in the reservoir than in the wick.
