A production method for an optical recording medium, comprising the first step of overlaying on a substrate via uncured ultraviolet curing resin a transfer stamper provided on at least one surface thereof with irregularities serving as transfer information, the second step of transferring the transfer information of the transfer stamper onto the surface of the ultraviolet curing resin, the third step of separating, after curing the ultraviolet curing resin, the transfer stamper at the interface between the transfer stamper and the ultraviolet curing resin, and the fourth step of forming a thin film layer including a recording film on the information−transferred surface of the ultraviolet curing resin, wherein at least one of the weight of the transfer stamper and the viscosity of the ultraviolet curing resin is so determined that the surface roughness of the information−transferred surface of the ultraviolet curing resin is smaller than that of the transfer information−provided surface of the transfer stamper.
