PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily convert hue of an image. SOLUTION: A color tone region is set in a region e defined by four straight lines L11, L12, L21, and L22. The straight line L22 is defined as a straight line, crossing the straight line L11 at right angles at a point P11, and the straight line L21 is defined as a straight line crossing the straight line L12, at right angles at a point P12. Consequently, anglesθ21 andθ22 can be determined only from anglesθ11 andθ12. The positions of a point AO and a point BO can be determined by the scalar quantity of length|AO|between the origin O and a point A and of length|BO|between the origin O and a point B. The maximum correction angleθm as an angle of a straight line Lm, starting from the origin O and crossing the point BO, from the axis of abscissa can be determined by a formulaθ11+θ12/2. As a result, variables to be set for specifying the region e can be reduced to four, that is,θ11,θ12,|AO|, and|BO|, facilitating hue conversion of image.
