PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To actualize a data transfer method for a gas charging system which enables a gas meter or a network controller to securely operate continuously for 10 years only with its internal battery without being supplied from external electric power for the gas charging system which performs prepayment processing. SOLUTION: A managing center 1 which performs reception processing from gas consumers and the prepayment processing for subtracting a gas charge from a prepaid amount and the gas meter 7 which measures a gas flow rate to integrate the consumption of gas and hold its related information inside are connected by a communication network 5 and the network controller 6 which mediates in communication between the managing center 1 and gas meter 7; and the managing center 1 and gas meter 7 send and receive data to and from each other. The managing center 1 performs the prepayment processing by performing data transfer with the gas meter 7 twice in total, i.e., data transfer in money reception from the gas consumers and data transfer of remaining amount reaching information.
